Ladies, You Have Freedom to Beautify Yourself

I’m a very observant person. I notice things. I appreciate the little things – especially within God’s creation; like the butterflies in the summer or the falling leaves in autumn – they’re all arrayed so beautifully. Ladies I want to write this post as a strong reminder that you have freedom to beautify yourself. Make yourself beautiful! We all, men and women alike gravitate towards beautiful things whether that’s home decor, clothing, a person’s character or natural things like flowers. Beauty comes from the inside out so you’d want to first ensure that you have a kind heart, to be someone who is charitable and conscientious because without these things no amount of exterior adorning will make you a beautiful woman. It’s no accident that the old cartoons made the antagonist look horrible and ugly because that’s what a wicked heart does to a person. So let’s dive in a little more on this topic.

Why should I beautify myself?

Now it may seem that on my blog, I focus too much on the exterior and that may be true – however I talk about it because it’s not talked about enough and in the right sense. Today’s ultra casual and laissez-faire attitude regarding how we look has led to a complacent society that has forgotten the importance of paying attention to the details – I mean that’s the number one trait an employer looks for right?

How you present yourself translates to how people will perceive you and treat you. It’s not something to trivialise. Rebecca when she saw her future husband coming, veiled herself (Genesis 24:65); the man who did not wear his wedding guest garment was bound and taken away (Matthew 22); the girl decked in fine clothing (Ezekiel 16:13). There are many instances in the Bible that showcase the significance of one’s appearance. Jesus himself was seen many times, after his ascension from the dead, decked in white robes. Revelation references the wearing of white robes by Jesus and us too when we go to glory.

Beautify yourself because you are a child of God; because God make you a woman and he made you beautiful! So respect that and treat yourself like you’re the temple of the living God. Like the temple which God instructed Solomon to build that was decked with gold and built to meticulous detail, so are we to put effort into how we look.

A woman Shouldn’t look Worst now that she’s a christian

I don’t want it to be the case that a woman looks dull and dreary now that she’s a Christian, but it so often is the case. The opposite should be so ladies! The Lord has made you a new creature so that should make you shine even more from the inside out. The Christian woman will be so demure, chaste, meek, not ostentatious, but decked beautifully as a bride of Christ. First and foremost you are a bride of Christ – how are you to present yourself each day if the Lord Jesus Christ – who by the way is higher than all kings and lords of this world – comes back for the final time to collect you? Will you be ready?

Your adorning should be that of a modest woman; not known for her adorning yet a thoughtful component of her Christ-like beauty. You have freedom to make yourself beautiful!

How can I beautify myself

Get in Shape

I have been on a journey to be in good shape for the past couple years since giving birth. It’s not easy. Being fit requires willpower, self-control and consistency. It’s all in the mind and for the longest I lacked all those qualities. But over the past few months, I’ve been praying and doing and the changes in how I feel are showing little by little.

I want to be lovingly truthful right now. If you are severely overweight, it shows that you have lack of self-control and discipline. Not being healthy can hinder us from certain opportunities; it may also dampen our testimony. Jesus’ ministry was steeped in healing people from physical ailments. Clearly it is the desire of God for us to be in good health; so we should strive to steward our bodies well.

Being in shape is not only beneficial for your confidence in who you are but also in strengthening your mind and brain. Brain fog is not the one. You cannot think straight. Processing information and tying them together just takes time. But as you practice more restraint from those sweets *sigh* and tell yourself I’m going to exercise right now or else I won’t, you’ll find that you’re strengthening your will against temptations more and more.

Faith without works is dead. Having a good support system helps too and I thank God I have my husband and family who encourage me to be stronger.

Be cheerful

Never let the world’s sorrows get you down. Rejoice in the Lord always! God wants us to be happy and joyful. Yes there will be times when we will cry, be angry and sad but let it be for a split moment. Remember who rules the universe. See every trial you go through as God’s love for you, to teach you something, to help you grow, to mature you in the faith. When you realise this you will smile and thank God that he loves you as his child. God tell us to think on all things that are pure and lovely and honest. So surround yourself with things that will make you happy. Listen to beautiful music, watch something that will make you laugh, do 10 star jumps and shake off the worries. I was joking about the star jumps but you never know it might help. 🙂

Essentially just be a happy bunny, a cheerful person. Tell jokes, have banter, be a good sport. Don’t be a debbie downer, a sulker, one who can’t play games or have fun – That’s not what a Christian ought to be. How we behave can have a great impact on others who are not – let them look at you and say I want to know what makes her like this.

Dress Beautifully

It’s 2025 and compared to 10 years ago, wearing feminine dresses is so in. It’s not difficult to find flattering dress that don’t cost a lot today. Trends such as tradwife and cottagecore has made wearing dresses very appealing again. Plus with the age of the internet, you have sites such as Pinterest where you can get lots of style inspiration. You may want to dress simple, but dressing so doesn’t mean you should look drab.

Learn what suits your height and physique, play around with colours and fabrics. This is what makes being a woman so fun! 1 Peter 3:3-4 and Timothy 2:9-10 show that wearing nice things and adorning oneself is okay! BUT we should be careful not to make it what we’re all about instead of our inward beauty. However if you go to a church where wearing jewellery is not allowed, don’t now start to wear it, because God warns us not to cause our fellow brethren to stumble by our actions. Furthermore keeping the peace and unity is far more important than putting on jewellery that will not edify the whole church if not in agreeance with it.

Conclusion

Focus on the heart, but don’t neglect your appearance either.
