How to Remove Slime From Microfibre Cloths

How to remove slime from cleaning cloths. Set of microfibre cloths.

Lately each one of my microfibre cloths have felt slimy after just over a week of usage. Very annoying and because soap wasn’t getting the slime off, I would just chuck it in the bin and get out a new one. I did a quick google check on how to remove slime from microfibre cloths, but all the posts were relating to getting slime out of clothes.

The solutions were pointing to various products, which I didn’t have. But I saw one post that suggested adding white vinegar to the clothes and so I decided to give that a try in getting rid of the slime from my microfibre cloths. This is what I did.

Method To Remove Slime From Microfibre Cloths

1x Basin
1/2 cup White Vinegar ( I always buy this one as you get two 5l bottles reasonably priced)
Water
Slimy Cloth(s)

Instructions

  1. In a large basin add enough water and 1/2 cup of white vinegar
  2. Put the slimy microfibre cloth in side and allow to soak for at least a good hour
  3. Remove the cloth and rinse with water

Conclusion

Now my microfibre cloths are going to last a lot longer! I hope you tried this method to remove slime from microfibre cloths and do let me know if it was also the solution for you. I wrote a piece on natural vs synthetic fibres, which you can read here.
