2026 – Setting Your Mind on Heaven

Happy New Year dear friends. I hope you also had a blessed and joyful Christmas with your loved ones. Christmas day was a really joyful one. We went to church and noticed how happy people were. It’s like because the day is filled with opening of presents, eating and being thankful, everyone’s spirits were on high. I could see and almost feel it. We went back home and I thought about it, but then soon after, and for the first time in a long time, I thought how sad it is that many people weren’t experiencing the joy of being with loved ones. And so I prayed for them. It dawned on me that I ought to remember to pray for them more and many others that are in desperate need of prayers. Tonight as we were driving home, I saw a young blind man waiting at the bus stop. He was wearing dark sunglasses and holding a stick. I prayed for him, but with emotion I rejoiced that Jesus Christ is so full of love, even for the lame and desolate, and that if they believe in him and love and trust him they will have that blessed hope of eternal life with him in heaven, where they will see all the wondrous things God has prepared for his people!

I have been thinking a lot about heaven over the past year. Not that I know when the Lord Jesus will return, but it certainly feels close – as if I’m in a countdown, expecting his return at any moment. As a mother, there are so many cares of this world to cater to. My husband, children and home as priority; and then many other things to contribute to the good of my household. However, in the midst of it, I do see my need to grow closer to Christ and to love him with all my mind, soul and heart. I see the great benefits of doing so. I can better understand his will for my life. I desire to learn more about him, by reading the scriptures. I long for eternity with him, where there will be no more tears and darkness. Oh heaven is going to be so much fun and bliss.

What will Heaven Be Like?

As I mentioned before, I’ve been thinking a lot about heaven lately, and how it would be. Some things that come to my mind, is the possibility that we will get to travel to different nations we’ve always wanted to explore. So if you ever wanted to go to Japan, well maybe in the new earth you’ll be able to. How about different eras and clothing over the centuries? Maybe we’ll get the opportunity to wear clothing from whichever era we desire. There are so many wonderful and fun things man has created over the years, because God has put it in our minds to do so. So it’s possible that all wholesome things may be perfected in the new earth and heaven! I was also thinking about how amazing it is that there are millions and millions of delicious dishes throughout the world that I haven’t yet tried. Maybe in the new earth, I’ll have eternity to try them all! Other questions that come to mind, is whether there will be games in heaven? Or will I get to have endless spa sessions? Who knows! The interesting thing is that God has made the contents of the new earth and heaven and mystery. As it says in 1 Corinthians 2:9:

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

1 Corinthisans 2:9

So in essence, we just have to wait and see. What we do know is that Jesus Christ will eternally be in the centre, to light the world world. There will be no need for the sun. We will sing hallelujahs for ever and praise God almighty who is worthy of all praise. We will be in total bliss and eternal gratitude to God for excepting us into his kingdom. But we must ensure that we are saved by loving the Lord your God with all our hearts, believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and forsaking all evil. Then we can be certain that our names are written in the book of life. Oh I can’t wait!
